The Opportunity

We are currently looking for an HSE Country Manager NZ to be based across our Visy sites in Auckland and Hamilton. This role will be responsible for driving and assisting the organisation to implement the Corporate HSE strategic plan. This will be achieved by coaching, influencing, and mentoring line leaders to demonstrate effective safety leadership as well as hands on implementing and maintaining procedures and records.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and administering the occupational health and safety and environment management system. This entails following existing procedures and working in project teams to help develop new systems and enhancing existing systems.
  • Collaborating and maintaining appropriate relationships with stakeholders as to the site HSE requirements.
  • Corporate audits across sites and develop risk registers in consultation with site management.
  • Conduct significant incident investigations and liaise with external regulators where required.
  • Implement and maintain HSE initiatives, codes of practice, standards, and policies.
  • Coach line managers on compliance requirements.
  • Analyse and report on the HSE performance to facilitate improvement of the HSE system and capability of people.

What you will bring to the team

  • HSE Qualifications (Minimum NZQA OSH Level 4).
  • Manufacturing/Heavy industry experience.
  • HSE Management system experience.
  • Experience in an OHS role.
  • Problem solving skills and solution-based focus.
  • Working knowledge of HSE legislation.
  • ICAM Investigations.
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001 and 14001 certifications.
  • Demonstrated presentation, facilitation, and coaching experience.
  • Experience with managing diverse group of stakeholders.
