As the Site Accountant, you will provide strategic and operational financial advice to the business, ensuring compliance and accuracy in financial and reporting processes. You will be a detail-oriented business partner, dedicated to problem-solving and driving efficiency by minimizing costs where possible.
The Role
Reporting to the Financial Controller - Plastics, and based at our Somerton site (Outer Northern suburbs, Melbourne), you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of information, reports, and financial models to management as needed.
You will act as a business partner and key support to the Plant Manager – Plastics, ensuring key business drivers such as EBITDA, Sales, and Safety are accurately measured and met. Additionally, you will serve as the key interface between the Business Unit and Head Office to meet key stakeholder requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Monthly forecasting and reporting of business unit financial results
- Cost control, providing variance analysis and financial feedback to key management stakeholders
- Managing capital expenditure from request stage to final capitalisation
- Assisting with the annual budget and Full Year Forecast processes
- Adhering to all safe working and environmental policies and procedures
- Ensuring Day 1 month-end reporting accuracy
- Working with operational and other personnel to drive continuous improvement in results, processes, and systems
- Monitoring, managing, and reporting on working capital
- Maintaining all accounting systems and procedures in accordance with corporate accounting policies and generally accepted accounting standards
- Reconciling the general ledger and resolving any issues as required
- Monitoring and maintaining the asset register and depreciation schedules
- Maintaining and improving the integrity of accounts, processes, and systems
- Participating in stocktakes
