Visy is powering the circular economy, closing the loop between packaging, remanufacturing and recycling.  Over 75 years, we've grown to 7,000 employees and 150 global operations – predominately in Australia and New Zealand.

We believe materials are not recycled until they’ve been made into new products. We collect and sort recyclable materials like paper, cardboard, glass, plastics and metals from households and businesses, and locally remanufacture them back into new, sustainable packaging. From cardboard boxes, water bottles and jam jars to food and beverage cans, we are using recycled content to power Australia and New Zealand’s food and beverage packaging industry.

 

Role details: Due to the fast growth of the business, we are now looking for a Management Accountant to join the team Based on-site at Gibson Island in Brisbane. You will be an integral member of the QLD Finance team, responsible for all facets of the accounting and financial functions while providing timely management & financial information to the Visy Pulp & Paper Team. This role will report into the National Finance Manager – Visy Pulp & Paper.

 

What you’ll do:

As such you’ll prepare, analyse and report the financials, while providing commercial and financial support. Stride for continuous system and business process improvements. The position's primary responsibilities include completion of monthly general ledger reconciliations. Assisting the management in completion of the annual budget process, full year forecasts and completing mid-month estimates

Further to that you will be involved with but not limited to:

  • Management reporting bi-monthly and monthly and drive improvements to the mid-month and month end processes
  • Assist with external auditors for interim and year end audits.
  • Provide comparative analysis on reported results to determine key drivers and future state.
  • Full responsibility for transactional account accruals and provisions, ensuring integrity of data is correct and anomalies are investigated and reported accordingly.
  • Balance sheet ownership with the timely completion of Reconciliations, Journal entries, FBT Return/reconciliation and relevant analysis as requested.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting for your business units.
  • Monitor expenditure levels within the business unit ensuring their appropriateness and review for opportunities of cost savings.

 

What you will bring to the team:

You will have a CA/CPA qualification or working towards completion of these studies, with a minimum of 2+ years’ experience in Management Accountant roles. You would describe yourself as a quick learner, someone who is a problem solver with a great eye for detail. You’re a self-motivated, proactive and organized person with a real ‘Can Do’ attitude. You enjoy a fast-paced working environment and can work well under pressure. You are a great communicator, enabling you to form strong relationships with stakeholders on all levels. You will be tech savvy, with advanced Excel skills and SAP experience would be advantageous.
