Role Details
Based at our Dandenong site, the Operations Manager is fully accountable for site performance across safety, production, maintenance, quality, people, and financial outcomes. Reporting to the State Operations Manager, you will lead a diverse manufacturing team to deliver safe, efficient and high-quality production while meeting commercial targets.
This is a hands-on leadership role at the centre of the operation. You’ll set the tone for safety and performance, build capability across your leadership team, and ensure the site consistently delivers against KPIs. Your influence will extend beyond day-to-day operations - shaping culture, driving continuous improvement, and strengthening customer outcomes across the broader Visy Board business.
What You’ll Do
- Lead site HSE performance and ensure full compliance with safety standards
- Oversee all manufacturing operations to meet productivity, quality and DIFOT targets
- Manage site P&L performance including labour, materials, waste and conversion costs
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across operations (Lean/CI focus)
- Analyse key performance metrics (TRIFR, LTIFR, uptime, productivity) and implement corrective actions
- Lead and develop site leadership teams across production, maintenance and technical functions
- Manage HR and IR matters including workforce planning, training and succession
- Build strong relationships with unions, contractors, suppliers and key stakeholders
- Maintain high standards of quality and customer service across the site
What You’ll Bring
- Experience within corrugated, board or fibre packaging manufacturing is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of HSE, industrial relations and workforce management
- Demonstrated experience managing site P&L and operational KPIs
- Experience in continuous improvement and process optimisation
- Strong commercial acumen and results-driven mindset
- Ability to lead, influence and develop high-performing teams
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
